Autumn Exhibition

We are thrilled to share with you a virtual insight in to the fabulous artwork we have on display at the moment showcasing a variety of local and international artists at Galerie Alpine in Villars-sur-Ollon.

Our exhibition runs until end of November 2017, now with 10% off all sales.

We have something for everyone – from the playful, dream-like colourful abstract canvasses by Dutch artist Willemijn van Dijk in acrylic, which leads us in to the large semi-abstract bold landscapes and nature studies of Indian artist Heena Sheth who enjoys working in oils and with a palette knife on her frequent visits to Villars.

The semi-geometrical style of Gryon artist Sophie Scott captures the local autumn scenes, hues of Lac des Chavonnes and Taney, and colourful impressionistic sunsets over Villars. The ‘plein-air’ painted sketches and pochards of the local alpine peaks and landscapes are effectively captured in oils by British local artist and mountain guide Bill O’Connor, usually painted in situ.

Chesière’s Cat Saunders tantalises us with decadent mountain lines of gold, silver and bronze leaf whilst Gryon artist Fara Torrance captures elegant scenes from Sion to Geneva old town in the age-old layered technique of egg tempera. Internationally acclaimed French-Bulgarian artist Sofia Leconte Mitev captures evocative night time scenes across towns and valley floors.

The beautiful lino-cut prints and illustrations of New Zealand’s Gemma Wiseman takes us in to the enchanted woods for close encounters with the local fauna, whilst the graphic illustrations of Gryon’s Robin Scott capture the familiar animated scenes - from modern cow herding poyas to cool social panoramas at Jimmy’s bar.

The classical photography of locally established Emma Godfrey takes us through breath-taking landscapes in moody lighting, from fields and vineyards to mountain high. Villar’s local British photographer Lee Johnson captures local views and events on vintage coloured film, and produces dramatic black and white panoramas on classy aluminium mounts.

Not to be missed are the achievements of our Florentine sculptor Vincenzo Romanelli who has brought limited edition bronze cast sculptures of magnificent life-size chamois and bouquetin heads, chamois climbing rocks, a leaping wild boar, a beautiful stag and regal eagle owl.
