Opening of a new art gallery in Villars-sur-Ollon
On a balmy December evening in Villars-sur-Ollon the only snow to be found was on the walls of Galerie Alpine. A new venture by a group of local artists, just a few days after Christmas we held our Grand Opening.
The wine flowed freely as did the conversation. Bill was overheard describing the climbing routes visible in his excellent mountain portraits, while spring was in the air downstairs among Sophie’s colourful lakes and mountain passes. A technical glitch led to my own ‘Dark Moods’ series being displayed in a more quirky manner but bad wall plugs aside it still made an impact.
Earlier on in the week, Fara’s exquisite ‘Alpes Vaudoises’ had been snapped up quickly and was on public show for the last time. Some of Cat’s and Sofia’s stunning acrylics didn’t last to the grand opening, but their new owners will no doubt be enjoying them.
All in all a wonderful evening with plenty of local faces and lots of kind comments. Here’s to local art for the local community!
